HATS is unlike other instruments available in that it creates a candidate profile based on what the applicant is experienced / qualified for AND enjoys doing, rather than what "type" they are. By profiling large groups of people performing the same jobs, HATS has determined exactly which traits and combination of traits impact, both negatively and positively on predetermined assessment criteria (for example, sales results, performance rating, work attendance....). This "template" is then used to predict in simple percentage terms how suitable a person is for the job.

Over many case studies and many years HATS has been shown to have an enormous positive impact on staff turnover. Working with BP on a training programme for unemployed people to be taken on as service station staff, screening of applicants with HATS achieved staff retention rates of 83% as compared to 19% in other similar Government funded schemes not using HATS. It was calculated that this saved the Government $Australian 1 million in the process.
HATS is an on-line programme which consolidates all job applicant tracking, determining applicant eligibility (qualifications/experience/availability) and suitability (traits/interests/preferences) and combining these to provide an organisation with a shortlist of the most suitable candidates. The system even provides relevant interview questions based on the individual applicant's profile and job requirements.
